Flames rip through illegal warehouse in Burrabazar | Watch Taaza TV's report
A shocking case has emerged from Mumbai where a cab driver allegedly created a fake Instagram account of a woman passenger and labelled her a “call girl” after a dispute over toll payment. The woman, a government employee, had booked a cab from south Mumbai to Dadar when the incident took place.
According to police, during the trip, the driver, identified as Vinay Kumar Yadav from Jharkhand, asked the passenger to pay a toll, which she refused, leading to a heated argument. Later, Yadav allegedly began calling and abusing her repeatedly. After being blocked, he created a fake social media account using her photograph and shared her contact details, which led to the woman receiving unsolicited calls.
Following the discovery, the woman filed a complaint with both the social media platform and the Dadar police. An FIR was registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to insulting the modesty of a woman and defamation, along with provisions of the IT Act. The accused was traced to Jharkhand through his mobile number and has been served a notice to appear before the police.
